Ok so you guys know that I’m super shoe obsessed and if you read the blog I’m guessing you have at least a slight interest in shoes. I’m always admiring shoes whether I’m stalking cool websites or window shopping when I’m out-of-town. Shoes are EVERYTHING and totally transform your look. So many mornings I can’t decide what shoe to wear. Not necessarily because I don’t have the right shoe, but because I have too many of the right ones. Meaning depending on the shoe that I wear depends on what I want to be that day. Boho, classy, rocker chic. Whatever. That’s what’s so fun about the shoes. I got to thinking and realized that I wanted to get more years, and wear, out of my shoes. I started doing a little bit of research and here are some basic facts to keeping your shoes in tip-top shape.
- Protect your shoes. This may sound like a no brainer, but how many times do we buy a new pair of shoes and are so excited we immediately put them on without putting any sort of protector on them. It’s a simple spray and let dry. It takes seconds. We do it for you at the store if you simply just ask. Grab one of these next time you’re at target.
2. Surprisingly over wearing them is NOT good for shoes. Kind of like your bra, you shouldn’t wear your shoes 2 days in a row. Over wearing them causes damage to the point of no return. It also wears the good cushion out of them. We all have been there where it was finally time to throw away our old faithfuls. Let’s spare ourselves from real tears and just rotate out. Ha!
3. “Nobody puts baby in the corner” has never been more true than it is with your shoes. Believe it or not shoes need to breathe. They have pores just like skin so they need fresh air. Shoes do better in open spaces so this may be a good time to talk your significant other into a shoe closet. I mean it saves money in the long run right? Ha!
4. We all own a pair or two of sneakers. Well news flash to me as well, but you aren’t supposed wash your sneaks in the washing machine. Who knew? It apparently ruins the quality of the shoe and unglues the shoes from the base. Nothing like going for run and leaving part of your shoe behind. Yikes!
I hope these tips help you have a happy and long lasting relationship with your shoes. If you have any tips please share!
