When I first decided to open Pursona, you would be surprised to know that not everyone was supportive. Some of those people were downright mean. Because I married a doctor, many assumed that I wanted to “play store” and not take my business seriously the way I knew I intended. I still have people that won’t and don’t shop in the store because they feel I don’t “need it”. Yes, I used to cry and yes, it used to ruin my day until it hit me…I DO need it! I don’t do this for them. I do it for me, my family and my community.
Pursona has been so good to me. It has been good for my soul. I’m not talking just financially, I’m talking about the countless people I have met through the store.
Some whom I’ve become close with and one that I now call my best friend, (Katie). I would never have met those people if it hadn’t been for the store. My customers bring me absolute joy. I love the conversations we have and the feeling they give me. If they give me a compliment, whether it be personal or about the product, forget it, I’m puddy. My customers mean the world to me. Truly.
Let’s talk about my girls. I have been blessed with some pretty amazing ones over the years. I know that we will forever be in each other’s lives and will always have a special bond.
These girls are my friends. They know me inside and out; every single quirk and bad habit. They make coming to work a joy. Anyone that has been in the store or who knows us, knows how much fun we have. Unlike other jobs, when I’m having a bad day, I WANT to come to work. I can count on these girls to make it better. There are few days that go by that we don’t have something to fall out laughing about. There’s never a dull moment.
We joke all the time that we could seriously have our own reality show. No, not because of the drama but because we literally are entertaining. Bravo, if you’re reading, you are seriously missing some good material, ha! Pursona would not be where it is today if it weren’t for all those girls that blessed me by working hard and showing up to work. You guys keep me mentally sane! (Well most of the time, ha).
Pursona has also given me an avenue to be charitable. Not only the store, but me personally. Because I own a store, I was chosen to be on Dancing Stars of Columbus where we raised money for Alzheimers. Something that’s very personal to me because John’s sister died of Dementia. Dancing with the Stars is currently raising money so visit their website and donate now (please and thank you).
Pursona has done several campaigns where we donate to the homeless, those less fortunate and/or a local women’s shelter. We are currently running a campaign through the end of March, #Nexting, where if you bring in a pair of gently used shoes, we will take $5 off your next pair of shoes.
The best part is we will donate all gently used shoes brought in to a local women’s shelter. So what does “nexting” mean exactly? We define it as the thrill of the hunt for the next best pair of shoes.
Yes, I am a doctor’s wife and proud of it but I am also ME!
I love my customers,
I love my girls
and I LOVE being a daymaker.
I can’t say enough about Pursona and all it’s done for me. I guess you have to be a part of it to understand. So with that being said I invite all of you in. Come sit on the couch and chat awhile.
I promise you’ll fall in love too. See you soon.
