This year’s Oscars did not disappoint. I tend to only watch the event for the fashion, but this year was so special to me. Maybe that’s because for the first time in my marriage, John actually laid in the bed and tuned in for the whole show. Well almost. He fell asleep at 10:30. Ha! His comments were priceless! I always like to hear his perspective on things. Very interesting.
With more to cover than fashion, I still have to start with the dresses. There were so many this year that I adored. My absolute favorite, which the girls at the store disagree, was Charlize Theron. OH MY GOD! Can she get any more perfect? Her hair, her body, her skin, her everything! She was STUNNING.
My second favorite was Olivia Wilde. Is she really pregnant or does she just have a beach ball under there? Between the pregnancy, hair and makeup, she was glowing.
And can we talk about Jennifer Lawrence? Her hair is the most amazing thing EVER. If only I could pull that look off as well as she does. Her breathtaking red and trendsetting, reverse draping necklace was a winning combination.
Lupita Lupita Lupita. Where did you come from? Fashion Planet Mars? That girl did not get it wrong the WHOLE awards season. Even the after party gown was spot on. She is blessed with beautiful skin, especially in HD! Every color looks great on her which was echoed by Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne’s gasps as she arrived on the red carpet.
Other stunners including Kate Hudson, Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett must not be forgotten.
With so many good, the bad were easy to spot. For me personally, my least favorite was Amy Adams. The dress did nothing for her or me. Even the hair was off. I was simply unimpressed (sorry, I know some you are booing me right now).
Ands as much as I keep up with the Kardashians, can someone please tell me where they were at the Oscars? #confused.
Best Oscars host? Envelope please….and the winner goes to Ellen! Okay, that’s just my opinion but can she be my BFF please? From the moment she stepped on stage she had me laughing. The whole pizza ordering episode was fantastic. And had I been lucky enough to be present, I definitely would have been one of the ones indulging on national tv. Not to mention, who else can get the prettiest and most famous people to do a selfie? She’s just the best. My absolute favorite line of the night from Ellen was when she was referring to Wolf of Wall Street and said “ You showed me something I haven’t seen in years”. I just couldn’t stop laughing.
Pharrell has kept us jamming for a year now with Blurred Lines, Get Lucky and now the contagious Happy. I loved loved loved how he got celebs out of their chair to dance with him. Even Meryl couldn’t resist shaking it with him. Speaking of, I bet she is the coolest and am envious of those who call her a friend.
Now onto the winners and acceptance speeches. Jared Leto. Not only are you HOT HOT HOT and a superb actor (a transformation like his is raw talent), but your love for your family gives me the chills. Who doesn’t love a man who loves their momma? Aye chi wa wa. His speech dedicated to mom and brother was genuine and heartfelt.
Lupita brought the tears. When she won I literally started crying. You could see how truly excited she was and to share it with her brother was pretty darn special. I loved that everyone around her including Brad Pitt gave her a hug. Her humbling speech was very compelling. Having been to Nairobi myself and seeing first hand the conditions there, I was thrilled for her win.
And Finally Matthew McConaughey thanking God first was right on. We have come to a point where I feel like God keeps getting removed. With so much value on celebrities these days it’s nice to see one of them make it “okay” to be all about God. #thanksbetogod.
My overall love for the Oscars stems from observing the impressive and numerous talent that exists. I believe the actors and nominees were spot on. Not a single category had a bad egg.
One last thing. Angelina Jolie is an amazing person. With a high paying job, 6 kids and husband who adores here, she continually takes time out of her glamorous life to help others. She is one phenomenal humanitarian. #teamangelinabecauseofheramazingsoul
Who were your favorites? Leave me a comment. We already had our chit chat up at the store but I’m ready for more and want to hear what you have to say!
