Finding the right shoe to alleviate foot pain can both prevent and treat foot problems such as bunions and calluses. Here is a list of things to remember when shopping for shoes to relieve pressure from the aggravated area of either joint problems or a deformity.
Try on shoes at the end of the day when feet are largest due to swelling
Bring shoe inserts with you to try on with shoes. We really like foot petals!
Shoe size, particularly width can change with age so get feet measured while standing and go with the largest size foot to determine shoe size
Avoid high heels and pointy toe shoes. If you must wear them, a safe rule of thumb is no higher than 2 inches
There should be 1/2 inch between your longest toe and the end of the shoe
Lace ups are always better than slide-ons. These are one of our new arrivals we adore
Here are some other options we have in the store that have reasonable heel height, wider width and material that breathes well. May we also recommend the Bunion Bootie.
